Breeding Rabbits – 11 Surefire Tips to Breed Your Rabbits

[ad_1]

Breeding bunnies is a part of having pet rabbits. It is the best part actually because you'd see how they will produce their own kind. Doe is what you called a female rabbit and they are the timid and nervous one. Buck is what you called the male rabbits and they are the strong one and have some temper and mood problems while litters are their offspring.

In breeding bunnies, when a small doe reaches 5 months and the buck is 6 months, the two can start with the mating process. The heavier the doe and buck are, the later they can start mating. In breeding bunnies there are rules and some exemption for you, as breeder / owner to be successful in mating them.

Here are some important factors that every breeder / owner should consider regarding breeding bunnies:

1. Always mate the same breed of rabbits. If you are breeding for meat production and genetic experimentation then it is fine to mate different breeds of rabbits.

2. Rabbit matures fast when he or she is alone on his or her cage.

3. Check if the doe and the buck are both in good health. Make sure they both are free from any diseases that could be inherited by their litters.

4. When the mating process is ready, always take the doe in the buck's cage. Doing so will heat up the buck instead of the buck going in the doe's cage. Tendency the buck might ignore the doe and pays his full attention on her stuff such as smelling her litter pans, checking her feeder and water bottles or could even eat the doe's hay and oats and simply forget the whole process of mating.

5. When the doe and the buck are finally acquainted, leave the two alone for the whole night.

6. You may check the doe if she's already pregnant on the 10th and 14th day after the initial mating.

7. In the 29th day, make sure you already prepared the nest box because in the 30th day is it more likely for the doe to finally give birth.

8. Make sure you lined the nest box with ample supply of hay and straw to keep the doe and her soon litters warm.

9. You may breed father rabbit to daughters or mother doe to sons but never brothers to sisters.

10. Different color but same breed is fine.

11. Never try to breed rabbits with abnormalities and defects.

Breeding bunnies is fun and exciting. Though litters may come in dozen or two, there is really no money in the breeding business. Only plain love and pleasures. And an abundant fuzzy loving creatures.
