1.) Syrian / Golden
This type is anti-social to other hamsters but is flexible to man and can be close to its owner. They are nocturnal animals which mean that they sleep during the day and are awake at night. In terms of physical appearance, Syrian or Golden hamsters are furry and can grow up to seven inches. The Syrians are by far the most gentle breed of hamster and can be found in different colors.

2.) Black Bear
This is a breed of Syrian Hamster that is hard to find but is a poor pet that requires decent care and hygiene. Like other Syrian, they are antisocial so they do not like to live in one cage with other hamsters.

3.) Panda Bear
This is another breed of Syrian or Golden Hamster that is hairy, cute and very huggable because of its black and white coats. They have an average life span of 2-3 years and are also excellent pets even for kids.

4.) Winter White Russian Dwarf
Winter White Russian is a kind of dwarf hamster that is little, quick but is really sweet and can be easily handled. They are social compared to other dwarf hamsters. Winter White can be found in 3 colors: sapphire, pearl and combination of the two.

5.) Campbell Russian Dwarf
Campbell Russian is another type of dwarf hamster that is sociable compared to Golden hamsters. They can stay in a group as long as they are introduced at a young age. They are sometimes hard to manage because they are very alert and sometimes tend to bit the handler.

6.) Chinese Hamster
Chinese hamster is sometimes called as Striped or Chinese Striped. They do not bite humans but are anti-social to their fellow hamsters. Some people mistakenly refer to them as dwarf breed. They are available in dark color or white color with spots.

7.) Roborovski Hamster
Roborovski Dwarf Hamsters is another dwarf breed that adorable and have good temper. They can stay with other hamsters inside the cage as long as they are presented early. They can live up to 3 years and are very easy to take care of.
