These creatures will usually eat anything you feed them, so it is important that you do not allow them to eat junk food such as fried foods, candy, chocolate, or anything with lots of sugar. Keep their diet between non-citrus fruits and vegetables. Cut their food into small enough pieces that your pet can eat easily. Water

Using a bowl of water is not recommended because your pet can spill the water and you will have to keep refilling it and cleaning out their cage to prevent any other problems.
Exercise Wheel
As stated before your pet needs to get their daily dose of exercise not only to stay healthy but to also prevent them from getting fat. They are natural runners so getting them to run inside of the wheel should not be a problem. Sometimes placing PVC pipes inside of their home can be a great way to simulate their original environment which is full of many burrows.
