Anxiety physical symptoms come in many varieties. They are often mistaken for physical maladies until you know the symptoms are a result of anxiety. We will examine many of the more common symptoms.
- Sweating is very common with an anxiety attack. Your palms may get wet for example.
- Palpitations may occur. This is when your heart feels out of control. It may be pounding or it may seem to skip a beat. Usually you will feel this in your chest, throat, or neck. For many anxiety sufferers who are not aware they suffer from it may feel as if they are having a heart attack or stroke.
- You may tremble or even shake because of your anxiety.
- Restlessness is another common symptom. Feeling like you always have to have something moving, whether it is grinding your teeth, or tapping your foot.
- You may have difficulty breathing. You may feel out of breath or unable to catch your breath. You might be taking short fast breaths.
- Occasionally you might experience difficulty swallowing, or you may feel as if food is caught in your throat.
- Your vision may narrow, effectively giving you tunnel vision. Occasionally the anxiety might be so severe that you lost your vision momentarily.
- You might experience chest pains or chest discomfort. This may be experienced as a heaviness, or a pressure, or just plain discomfort in your chest.
- Your stomach may start to hurt or you may feel nauseous. You might even throw up.
- You may feel dizzy. This can make your ability to stand become difficult sometimes causing you to actually fall.
Many of these symptoms can also be caused by physical maladies, but not in conjunction with other symptoms listed here. It is very important that you write down your anxiety physical symptoms, and if you believe you have an anxiety disorder contact your doctor as soon as possible. There is help available.
