Dwarf hamsters are small and sociable animals. Their life span is a little more than a year up to about three and a half to four years which depends on the species of your hamster. There are four species – Djungarians or the Campbell's, Chinese, Roborovskiis and Winter Whites or also commonly called Siberians.

When taking care of these pets, three major things should be considered. First, the homes of the hamsters, then their diets and finally, their toys should be given attention. Thus, these things are to be provided for a more comfortable relationship. At the same time, a dwarf hamster also needs other things like having their cages cleaned once in a while.

Dwarf hamster care is not really very hard. There are just things to consider before taking them it. This means having responsibility for them. This also includes some type of commitment on your part.

A dwarf hamster's home is an essential part of taking care of them. When considering a home, make sure that it is big enough for the hamster or hamsters to move around. But then, make sure that it is not so large they get lost in it. Thus, big gaps or holes in a cage or plastic container would let them escape and possibly be hurt or lost.

The homes should also be specialized in terms of keeping it more natural. This means having tunnels just like the ones they dig in their natural environment. The tunnels should also be smaller than that of a regular sized hamster. Thjat is to say, it is recommended to use a mouse tunnel instead.

The home should also be maintained every once in a while. Cleaning the cages require removal leftovers and disinfecting the surface. In case your hamster does not smell nice, it is not really the hamster but the home. You should consider cleaning them in a frequent and regular basis.

Dwarf hamsters' diet is incredible. They can eat as much, or probably more, than a regular sized hamster. They are primarily interested in foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, but you may also feed them dried ones. In pet stores, there are also prepared food items for them. Make sure that you also alternate these foods. Foods are in form of pellets or seeds. Thus, make sure to scrap old foods in the cages because they tend to be moldy and may affect your pet.

Toys for the hamster are also for their health. Running wheels or balls are essential for them to be able to exercise. The balls would also enable you to keep them running around the room while you are cleaning their homes. Chewing toys are for teething purposes. Instead of letting them chew on their things, this toy would suffice for their chewing needs.

At the same time, the dwarf hamster is very sociable, so you would need to take them outside once in a while. There are probably some dwarf hamsters around the corner that your pet can socialize with
