Prevention is still the best approach to not having blackheads but how will you get rid of them once you have them? Good news is that they are treatable without any need for intensive treatments from a dermatologist. Everyone who has for some time neglected his or her skin and is exposed to a lot of pollution has developed blackheads and possibly other skin problems, too. When you're getting rid of blackheads, you might want to consider the following steps:
1. Use a sterile stainless steel blackhead remover. Make sure that it's sterile as blackheads are caused by bacteria and you do not want to worsen your problem. Revlon sells the stainless steel blackhead remover for less than USD $ 5. It lasts a lifetime but with enough care, you will not need to keep using it. Only use it after you've washed your hands and face. You can also use a face steamer before removing your black heads to really open up your pores. Just rinse your face with cool water afterwards to make the pores shrink again.
2. Follow a healthy facial cleansing regimen. We all are taught to wash our face since we were kids but back then we probably used baby soap. Our face requires milder and more specific cleansers that keeps our skin healthy and desires skin problems and early aging. Facial cleansers are available for all skin types and there is not really one that should be preferred over the other. If you're looking for a facial cleanser that does not cost too much such as Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash which is about USD $ 6. That's a tenth of the price of the expensive branded ones out there. Never mind if your friend finds it in your bathroom and has a laugh. It works and is actually recommended by dermatologists. Toners are arguably useful as not all dermatologists actually think they're necessary.
3. Moisturize your face to prevent it from drying and producing more oil. Dry skin can cause a lot of immediate damage such as pimple breakouts. It also causes early signs of aging such as wrinkles and pigmentation. I've tried Olay and Pond's but Lancome's moisturizer seemed to work best on my skin type. I have combination skin and Lancome's moisturizer not only smelled good, it did not feel like there was another layer of film on my face.
Trying out one of these products might get you the results that you want. There's no guarantee that one combination is better than the other because it depends on your skin type. Do not be in a hurry to change the products you are using right away. Look around and carefully consider one before use and use it for a month or so to really determine if it works for you. If you're unsure of which products will work together for you, start with ones from the same maker and work from there.
