How to Care for Your Teddy Bear Hamsters

Teddy bear hamsters are certainly adorable and lovable creature that's why kids are very fond of taking care of them. The care for teddy bear hamster is advisable for children age nine and up. If you had just bought a teddy bear hamster for your child and also for the child in you, here are simple tips that might be of help to you on how to care for your teddy bear hamster.

Housing

The cage where you will house your hamster must simplify optimum air flow. It must be lightweight and easy to clean. Must be large enough approximately 2 to 3 story cage with shredded wood shavings (avoid pine or cedar shavings it is harmful to them) or hay on its cage flooring, with 1 or more houses with nesting materials on it. And also put some food, water, bedding, wheel, hideout, water bottle, food dish and safe to chew toys. Remember that most of human foods are harmful to hamster but they find seeds, grains, fruits and vegetables satisfactory. If you have one or more teddy bear hamster make sure they are not overcrowded in a cage, this cute little creatures do not like to live in pairs they have the tendency to fight over each other other even to the verge of death.

Diet

Your hamsters' diets must be composed mainly by grains, fruits and vegetables. They should be feed daily and also before feeding them it is advisable to remove leftovers from the previous day. And also always refill their water supply and must be kept fresh. They also need something to chew on, as their incisors grow continuously and needs to be kept in shape and maintained.

Cleaning

Clean your hamster's home twice a week. When cleaning use warm water and non toxic solvent cleaner, then rinse well and dry it completely. It also includes all the accessories inside your hamster's cage, including the house. Hamster's bedding should be changed routinely. They should not be bathed unnecessarily because they can be sentenced to colds.

Housing, hamsters' diet and proper cleaning of your hamster's home is highly noted, but the most important key to successfully care for a pet hamster is your genuine love for your pet, from it will spring real care.
