With all the talk about Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters laTely, I just had to learn more of what these fuzzy little creatures were all about. At first, I thought they were some kind of video game! You know, like those "feed a fish" things you see on Facebook or something of that nature.
But, I was wrong. It turns out that Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters are mechanical toys that scoot around, play, and act just like real live rodents! What a novel concept, I must say. It looks like the perfect thing for a family who does not want a real live hamster anywhere near their kids.
Let us consider the alternatives: A real hamster smells something awful, and leaves lots and lots of entrails essentially everywhere it goes. They require real food, real water, and real attention. Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters, on the other hand, require none of these things. They have batteries, so you can shut them off. Not to mention, they only stink if you certainly pour something gross on them to cause it to stink. This is a major benefit over a real hamster when you consider how much dampened cedar can totally reek up your house.
On another note, real hamsters die. When pets die, kids get sad and cry. And, when kids cry over a dead pet, you have to lie to them. "It's OK Sally, your hamster is only sleeping." You may say to your mentally tortured toddler over a dead rodent, hoping to satisfy their worried little minds. Do you really want to lie to your kids? Probably not. If you do, one day when your kid grows up and finds out the truth, you'd be a murderer, and a liar. No one wants that.
So when comparing the two this holiday season, I would strongly recommend a Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster over a real one, for these simple reasons. Obviously, this is even more important with other family pets or of you living in a smaller apartment.
However, if everyone stops buying real hamsters and letting them die in their cage, instead replacing them with Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters, there might end up being a rodent overload on the streets. This would be similar to the pied piper, but unfortunately, that guy has been dead for centuries. If you live on a farm, you might want to consider a live hamster just to balance out the city folk who buy Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters in their studio apartments. That's just something to consider. Either way, Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters are huge this holiday season and I would totally recommend checking them out if you have kids. They'll love it!
